About me

I'm so...

Hi, first of all I'm a guy :), and only then I'm a student of one of the famous State universities in Russia (The Higher School of Economics, Moscow), and then I'm the best programmer I've ever met. I'm a Bachelor in Management (got the degree in 1998). Now studying on magisterial program of Strategic Management. Also,I have very rich imagination. My fantasy doesn't know any limits and can fly sky-high :). Actually, I had to reward myself with this...

My nickname

Ok, and now some words about my life... My real name is Gregory (or Grisha, Grigoriy), but like all programmers I have my nickname - Great Beard (since 1993). I didn't spend much time finding this nick... sometimes my friends just called me 'Beard', then I added 'Great' and now we have 'Great Beard'. I live in Moscow (as you've already understood), I'm 22, about 5'10" tall, 67-70 kg [147-154 lb]).

I have been to...

I love to travel. When I was a child, about 7-10 years old, I drove so far away from my home ... on the bicycle with my friends.:o) Sometimes it took about 4 hours to get back home. With my folks I traveled twice to Odessa (Black Sea, Ukraine, not that one which is in the west part of Texas :o)) ) when I was 3 and 5 yrs. I don't remember much about that trips, but what I do remember is wonderful. When I was 7, my father took me to Sukhumi (Black Sea, capital of Abkhazia). I remember that trip, it was wonderful too. All the places I've been to were wonderful, and maybe that's why I love to travel, or... vice versa :o)

Then, when I was 12, 13 and 15, I traveled with folks to Crimea (Black Sea, Krym, Beregovoe near Simferopol, Ukraine). I have been to Budapest (capital of Hungary) when I was 19. From there I went for a short trip to Vienna (capital of Austria) - just for one day. We (my father and I) walked down in the ancient district of the city...

Do you know where Golden Sands are? Yep, it's in Bulgary. I was there in summer of 1996 and 1997. Very nice place like paradise :o)

In summer and winter of 1998 I was in the USA, Philadelphia. My girlfriend showed me nearly all east coast of US :o) - Atlantic City, New York, Boston, Manchester... Also we lived in the country house in Pocono's Mountains (North of Philadelphia).

Sport

11 years ago (in 1989, in my school) I got the 2nd place in the competition (skating sport), but now I have almost no time for sport and others activities.

Computer things I did before

My first program was Eternal Calendar (shows you a day of the week of the date you entered) which was on BASIC-A. In 1990 my school was equipped with AGAT computers (Russian computers), maybe you have never heard of it before :o) And now I'm telling you: these computers were @#$%^&*, or something like that, in comparison with the modern ones. When I got 80x286 computer, I started to write simple programs on Turbo Basic and Quick Basic 4.5 & 7.1. The main idea of all creations was Data Bases (I constructed structures of information).

Day by day, month by month... I ascended to the hacker level ( Not that I am one, but I'm that smart):o) In 1993 I wrote great cracker-program for game Crusaders of The Dark Savant (Wizardry 7). The main thing in this cracker was self-studying function. I was sure that I didn't know every item in the game, so I was unable to enter exhaustive list of items. I wrote clever sub-procedure which detected new items and asked users to identify it... But in January 1994 my computer became the victim of unknown virus and all information on my HDD (42MB) was destroyed. I was knocked out :o((

I decided not to restore my favorite cracker... About a half of year later, one new cracker was created. It was something completely new for me and for that time (1994 year). New cracker, called Game Editor Pro (GEP), consisted of several modules. Together they allowed you to compare save-files from games and detect the offsets for Lives, Guns, Time and so on. Then all found info about save-file were entered into GEP Data Base. And the next time all a user needed was to run GEP, load save-file and change the values :o) Since that time I have had no active viruses, except PE_CIH (I detected it in autumn 1998 and cleaned up)

I have a huge list of creations, but I don't feel they are worth taking of.

Computer hobby

What can I do without my computer? Hm-m, I dunno. I like image processing things. Enjoy writing computer games on Inprise Delphi, MS Visual Basic, MS Java++. Sometimes write on MS Visual C++. All my experiences and skills together make me a good web-designer :o))
